The benefits of sending pictures by using VAWSUM.

“Why do you Click Pictures?”- a question that we are all familiar with. The answer to this question can vary from person to person but the outcome is the same. Each picture is a prized possession for all. Be it our first day in school or the first time we stepped into college, or maybe, the time we get married or the time become a parent, each picture brings with it a thousand emotions. As the moments keep fleeting, time keeps passing and the landscape keeps changing – it becomes very important to capture every moment. For example, we will never have our “first” day in school again, or we might never run wearing that school dress again. Just imagine the smile that can spread across the face when holding such a picture in our hand? It can be priceless. A picture helps us relieve those small moments of our lives that we do not want to forget.

Every picture tells a story. And every story brings with it a smile. We, in VAWSUM, value your smile. The following is the story of one of a parent who is using VAWSUM to stay connected to her child’s school.

“Mrs.Roy recently started a new job as a cashier.  It was her second week on the job and she had some screw-ups, funny stories, weird dilemmas and some unbelievable customers. This was her first customer service job- not that she hasn’t had to deal and work with customers before, just not this much or at this level.

Mrs. Roy is a  hardworking and cheerful lady. She has a loving family, caring husband and a beautiful daughter Ananya. Mrs.Roy loves spending time with Ananya and enjoys her little-little mischief.

Mrs.Roy started remaining busy, now she had lots of work to handle. She was unable to spend time with his family. One day while she was at work, a father came with his daughter to get her a new toy, seeing that she started missing Ananya and what followed was something amazing. Her hands crept into her purse and she took out her phone. She then started gazing at the pictures that were sent to her from Ananya’s school. Actually, the School had recently started sending updates using Vawsum. It was a neat application, very easy to use. Through Vawsum she got the pictures of Ananya which, always, makes her day.”

This is just one instance. Let us look at another instance in which VAWSUM was successful in bringing a smile on another parents’ face.

“Rajni finished making the announcements and settled in her seat. The lights gradually went dim and the rumble grew louder. She had been an air hostess for nearly four years now but still felt uncomfortable whenever the flight made these turns and noises. However, she never let any of her inhibitions show on her face.
Life had been good to her. She had an amazing family and a husband, who listened. A smile spread across her lips as she remembered how he had surprised her by landing up at the airport with balloons to pick her up last week. Having him by his side made her stressful life a little more manageable.
Rajni noticed the mother in the third row trying to put her child to sleep. The kid would be of roughly the same age as Amit, Rajni mused. Amit had Rajesh’s eyes. He was turning out to be naughtier every day. She wished she could spend more time seeing him grow. Thankfully the School had recently started sending updates using Vawsum. So, she always looked forward to getting off the flight and get real-time updates. The picture of Amit playing with colors was just adorable! Her colleagues had all fussed about how fast Amit was growing up.”

Of all the many ways in which VAWSUM has helped in the revolution of parent-teacher engagement in the growth of a child, the one reason that has been the catalyst is the feature that allows teachers to send pictures to the parents. This feature can boost the parent-teacher engagement in many ways. Let us understand them with the help of few examples.

  • Rambo was a good boy and he used to go to school on a regular basis but he had only one problem. He was hard at remembering. As a result, he could never do his homework. Unknown to what the homework was given, his parent couldn’t help him either. This became a topic of concern for his parents. They didn’t know what to do. It was very harassing for the teacher to be bothered every day by the parents for the regular update of the homework and on the other hand, it was very difficult for his parent to contact with the teacher regularly.  And the worst part was, there were many such Rambo in the school. The situation demanded a subjugator maybe. Judging how delicately poised the situation was, the school authorities decided to use VAWSUM and that turned out to be the masterstroke. Using VAWSUM, the teacher could send the pictures of the homework for the next day. Parents sitting at home would receive the same. The contact details of the teacher won’t be shared(unlike all other engagement apps). This lessens the harassment on the part of the teachers. Along with that, a parent stays back home and gets to know about the homework set for her/his child. All the Rambos started then completing homework. This is how the feature of clicking pictures help in doing the homework on a regular basis.
  • On the 13th of February, New Model High School celebrated National Woman’s Day. Kavya played the role of a poor girl who was molested. She played her role pretty well but as it was only for the students, her parents couldn’t see her live. But all thanks to VAWSUM, her parents could at least see the picture of their daughter. Her picture brought a smile on her parents’ face. They thanked the school for using VAWSUM.
  • Peter participated in the intraschool 100-meter race for the first time. After days of practice, he won the race. His parents could not come on the day of the event as they were out with some urgent work but that didn’t mean they missed the winning moment. The school uploaded his picture with the medal. His parents were proud of him. “Thank you Vawsum!” they exclaimed.
  • Mrs.T.Sardar uploaded the picture of the Akbar. He was the topper of the class. When his picture was uploaded, his parents were happy. He got the limelight. Everyone spoke about him. Seeing all these, Axar too wanted to be in the place where Akbar is. He too started working hard. In the following exam, there was a 23.5% increase in the marks of Axar. All these happened because Mrs.T.Sardar uploaded the picture.

There are millions of Rambo, Kavya, Peter or Axar out there. And there are certainly millions of parents who are working day and night, unknown to the activities of her daughter/son.

  1. Like the parent of Rambo, there are parents who are longing to take active participation in the day to day studies of his/her child.
  2. Like the parent of Kavya, there are parents who are willing to see their child perform but can’t.
  3. Like the parent of Peter, there are parents who have chances of missing the event of their child.
  4. Like Axar, many more can be motivated by the success of others and strive towards excellence.

But you all don’t need to worry anymore. All thanks to VAWSUM, the unknown becomes known with the click of a button. For everyone, the subjugator is here

National Woman’s Day.

It’s incredible and unbelievable to see many roles a woman plays in her life. From being a daughter to being a sister, from being a wife to being a mother – she has the immense capability to adjust to each and every phase of her life. She is the epitome of success. She is the synonym for love, joy, happiness, kindness and all the good things of life. She is the solution to all our problems. She is the pillar of the society. Not only is she beautiful externally but her inner beauty is incomparable.

In India, being a girl isn’t easy. When she is born, she has to be fair as “fairness” defines beauty(according to the Indian society). Then, when she is an infant, she has to put on a “big black dot” or else “Nazar lagjayega” (that is exactly what the society says). Ridiculous! And the irony is, the society that has set “FAIRNESS” as the benchmark to be termed as “BEAUTIFUL” puts a “DARK DOT(teeka)” to protect BEAUTY. What sarcasm!

Then comes her phase of being a toddler. Well’ being a toddler, defenseless, she has to escape from the cunning eyes of the hungry adults who are ready to pounce on her. Yes, reality hurts but this is the truth. Let’s not run away from it as the fact is, in India, the rate of rape for girls who are below the age of 2 has increased at an alarming rate. But, maybe, SHE didn’t dress properly, isn’t it?

Then she steps into one of the most beautiful phases of her life. She steps into the age in which she can start going to school. But here also lies the irony of her life, “school” has different meanings for different sections of the society. Some get the privilege of actually going to school to study while, for most, that remains a distant dream. While the former has a theoretical experience of  “Child Trafficking”, “Child Molestation” or “Prostitution”, the latter experiences it in their practical life. This is exactly how this phase is. The phase of “BEAUTIFUL UNCERTAINTY”.

Then comes one of the funniest phases of her life. The phase in which she jumps from adolescence to become a teen. A phase in which she has to offer ‘Anjali’ to a Goddess(yes, a Goddess and not a God) but has to struggle to be treated as a human being at times (try visiting a rural village). A phase in which she is offered blood and worshipped but if she offers blood then she is stopped from entering a place of worship. A phase in which she has to give up education at times because her parents want their son to study. A phase in which she is made to get married young because she is she and not he. A phase in which she has to keep a check on what she wears. Oops! No! She has to keep a check on “what the society wants her to wear”.  A guy litters the road with streams of running water, then no one bats an eye but, if a girl wears jeans, then the eyes of most individual pops out of the socket. Funny, isn’t it?

Then comes the ultimate irony i.e. the stage in which she finds a new home. With this phase comes in a new home, a new family, new environment, new expectations and a new surname. Amidst all this newness, she is expected to be on her toes from the word go. She is expected to wake up every morning and cook – do all the household chores – look after the family – go to work – come back home on time – again do the household chores and every morning, she has to press the REPEAT button over and over again. Then one fine day, she becomes a mother. Her responsibility increases. She starts loving her baby without any barriers. She loves without ceasing. She loves without conditions. But here lies the next irony of her life. The child gets the name of his/her father. Funny, isn’t it? But does it matter to her? No. It certainly doesn’t. Her love remains unaltered. Maybe Shakespeare was influenced by a woman when he wrote: “What’s in a name?”

Amidst all the hypocrisy of the society, women have reached from the earth to the moon. They have climbed the highest mountain. They have achieved everything. From sacrificing a child for the fight for independence to protecting a child from the independent, she has done it all. She is the pinnacle of success and the face of the strength. Maybe that is why, even after facing all the tantrums of the society, she still finds a reason to love them back. From being inside the womb to carrying a baby inside the womb, from being a daughter to being a mother, from being a sister to being a sister-in-law: she does everything with a smile. And what does the society do in return? Be a hypocrite for 364 days of the year and spread awareness one the 1 day that is left.

Dear society, if you really want to spread awareness, then do it all throughout the year. Why only one day? If you really want to spread awareness then please stop acting like a hypocrite. As India celebrates “National Woman’s Day” today on the birthday of our first female president Sarojini Naidu, team VAWSUM takes this opportunity to greet all the women out there and we request the society to remove the curtain from their eyes. Only then can this world be a better place to live in. It can really be easily said that behind every successful man there might be a good woman but behind a successful independent nation, there have to be many women. Jai Hind!

Be Unique! Be Awesome with Vawsum!

It was almost surreal to see this man, who’s net worth was about $10 billion back then in 2004 , earnestly asking the team, “So what will my company become in the future?” Even way back then, when many people in China didn’t even understand what the internet was , he saw his company becoming a global powerhouse. Now with a total net worth of USD 39.2 billion, this man is the richest man in China and his brand is worth more than Facebook, and processes goods more than eBay and Amazon combined!  Yes, we are talking about Jack Ma, the founder of the E-commerce giant Alibaba and is a stakeholder at Alipay, its sister company which is an e-payment portal.

14 years since making his first speech, Jack Ma, offered heavy doses of rags-to-riches inspiration and exhortations in Davos, Switzerland. In Davos, he spoke openly and at length about some of the key challenges facing the world, delivering a stream of perspectives and guidance.

This is what he had to say.

On the impact of technology

“We are very lucky because the world is in a big transformation because of technology. This new technology will create a lot of successful people, interesting careers but honestly every new technology will create social problems.

“If we don’t align together, human beings are going to fight each other, because each technology revolution makes the world unbalanced.”

On women in business

“If you want your company to be successful; if you want your company to operate with wisdom, with care, then women are the best.

“37% of senior management in Alibaba are women. Part of the ‘secret sauce’ of our success is because we have so many women colleagues.”

On the future of globalization

“I think globalization cannot be stopped – no-one can stop globalization, no-one can stop trade. If trade stops, the world stops. Trade is the way to dissolve the war not cause the war.

“Global trade must be simple and modernized; it must be inclusive so everyone has the same opportunity. The next generation of globalization must be inclusive.”

On learning from failure

“Learn from your mistakes – no matter how smart you are you will learn from them. We must share the mistakes with others.

“My thinking is that – if you want to be successful, learn from the other peoples’ mistakes, don’t learn from success stories. The book I want to write is “Alibaba: 1,001 Mistakes“.

On the value of teamwork

“You don’t need to know a lot of things, but you need to find the people who are smarter than you are. My job is to make sure smart people are working together.”

“The best way to promote your company is through your product or services, or employees.”

On the education challenge

“A teacher should learn all the time; a teacher should share all the time. Education is a big challenge now – if we do not change the way we teach thirty years later we will be in trouble.”

“We cannot teach our kids to compete with the machines who are smarter – we have to teach our kids something unique. In this way, 30 years later, kids will have a chance.”

On the key to success

“To gain success a person will need high EQ; if you don’t want to lose quickly you will need a high IQ, and if you want to be respected you need high LQ – the IQ of love.”

On the impact of artificial intelligence

“Artificial intelligence, big data is a threat to human beings. I think AI should support human beings. Technology should always do something that enables people, not disable people.

“The computer will always be smarter than you are; they never forget, they never get angry. But computers can never be as wise a man. The AI and robots are going to kill a lot of jobs, because in the future it’ll be done by machines. Service industries offer hope – but they must be done uniquely.”

With all these things that Mr.Jack Ma had to say, the one line that should be highlighted is “We cannot teach our kids to compete with the machines who are smarter – we have to teach our kids something unique. In this way, 30 years later, kids will have a chance.

Isn’t this so true?

Machines would always be smarter and capable of multitasking. But they can never resemble a human. The machine can never be as wise as a human. There can be a lot of similar machines in the market but what separates a human being from a machine is the fact that EVERY human being is unique, unlike the machines. In this world filled with “TRENDY” machines, Human beings would always remain the “CLASSIC”.

Now the question that arises is, how can one inculcate the uniqueness that is stored within them? The answer lies in the grass-root level because how someone is educated (not “what” someone are educated), defines how he/she educate. The way he/she is educated should help him/her to realize and inculcate his/her uniqueness and only then can he/she have a chance in the next 30 years. (As said by MR.MA)

And how do we do this?

This can only be done, when a parent and a teacher works hand in hand to help a child inculcate the uniqueness that is in stored in them. The call of the hour is not Parent-Teacher Involvement procedures in the progress of the child but the call of the hour is Parent teacher Engagement as only then can the parent be a part of the decision making when the child is concerned. And what better way to do this than to use VAWSUM. VAWSUM is a parent teacher engagement app that enables teachers to send instant pictures to the parents. VAWSUM also enhances the Engagement between a parent and a teacher.

Now for example, Ravi studied in St.Augustine’s School. He wanted to play the violin but was not allowed by his family. One day his Teacher in school saw that he was playing the violin melodiously. He clicked the picture and sent it to Ravi’s parent via VAWSUM app. His parent were overjoyed to hear him play.Today, Ravi is one of the best violin player in town. When interviewed, he told “Had it not been for VAWSUM, i would have never understood my unique talent.”

There are many more such instances where VAWSUM has helped a student inculcate the hidden uniqueness that is in store within them. From hidden debating talents to academic excellence, from sports to singing, from achievements to exposures – VAWSUM provides a digital platform to each and every student, and this helps each and every child to realise and work on the hidden talents and jump unique to UNIQUE.

It is only when we plant a seed today can we have a tree tomorrow and fruits the day after. But even the best of seeds can be trampled if the soil is not good, and even the worst of seed can grow properly if the soil is nourished. And yes, you cannot expect a mango tree to give you an apple fruit, isn’t it? Same way, plant the seed of your child’s life in the soil named VAWSUM. More than 350 schools have already done that and this has helped them yield wonderful fruits. It’s time that you too should do the same and help your child yield the fruits of his/her uniqueness.

And yes, in VAWSUM, we help you in believing on oneself, be persistent in the face of adversity and making use of each and every opportunity in order to inculcate the hidden uniqueness that is in stored within you such that in years to come, you all will have a chance.

On this auspicious World Cancer Day, let us say YES to life and No to Cancer.

In the pursuit of knowing something from knowing nothing, the world has indeed been on a topsy-turvy ride. From the motion of planets to the Brownian motion, from playing with pebbles in the real world to playing with the same in the virtual world, from burning to barbecuing, from hides to embroidery, from knowing our neighbor next door to knowing our neighbor country – the earth indeed has stories to tell. The earth would probably be the abode of a Royal King, who loves His people and he loves His people so much that He lets His people cherish each day in some way or the other. One such day is today. Today, the people of the Earth observe World Cancer Day.

This day was founded by the Union for International Cancer Control(UICC) to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration and to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. This day targets misinformation, raises awareness and reduces stigma Multiple initiatives run on World Cancer Day to show support for those affected by cancer. One of these movements is #NoHairSelfie, a global movement to have “hairticipants” shave their heads either physically or virtually to show a symbol of courage for those undergoing cancer treatment. Images of participants are then shared over social media. Local events also take place. (Source; Wikipedia)

But is that the only type of cancer which we need to be aware of? I believe, the answer is a big NO. Cancer that is around us is detectable but cancer that we possess remains undetected. On this day, let us first detect the cancer that is within us and fight it. Let us, together, fight the

  • Cancer that judges a girl when she reaches home late
  • Cancer that kills a child when he/she is in the Mother’s Womb
  • Cancer that looks down on the downtrodden
  • Cancer that judges the needy
  • Cancer that leads to racial discrimination
  • Cancer that takes Bribes
  • Cancer that promotes Dowry
  • Cancer that looks down on the LGBTQ community
  • Cancer that results in Child Marriage or Child Trafficking
  • Cancer that shames the victim and not the perpetrator
  • Cancer that stops us from loving
  • Cancer that leads to Gender Inequality
  • Cancer that separates each other in the name of “RELIGION”
  • Cancer that leads to wars and attacks
  • Cancers named “POVERTY” and “ILLITERACY”
  • Cancer that makes us waste food, water or any resources
  • Cancer of substance abuse
  • Cancer that blinds our eyes and makes us self-centered
  • Cancer that stops us from recognizing the cancer within us

On this World Cancer Day, team VAWSUM encourages each one of us to recognize the Cancer that is within us. It is only when we detect the cancer within us can we justly deal with the disease named ‘Cancer’ around us. Let us together, say Yes to Life and No to all types of Cancer.

On this World Leprosy Day, let us take an oath to Heal the World.

“The Biggest disease today is not leprosy, but rather the feeling of being unwanted.” – Mother Teresa.

How true is this line! The feeling of being unwanted can indeed be the worst disease. It has the power to destroy one person. World Leprosy Day was started to make people realize that Leprosy is curable and to make the people who are affected with leprosy feel ‘wanted’. A free check-up camp is organized at the anti-leprosy day celebration for the leprosy patients at each health centers which effectively changes the attitudes of people towards the disease. It is a disease caused by the bacteria (Mycobacterium laprae), it is not the hereditary disease, so it is fully curable by the regular and adequate treatment which is very necessary to cure the disease and prevent its disabilities. The Government of India has made a plan to completely eradicate it from India by the distant goal named Leprosy Elimination Target. Variety of leprosy control activities has been launched by the World Health Organization for further reducing the disease worldwide.

The celebration of the day targets to aware people about disease myths such as it is not spread by simply touching the affected person.

Objectives of Celebrating Anti Leprosy Day

  • To raise the leprosy awareness among people.
  • To offer help to those affected by the disease through the regular and free of cost treatment they need.
  • To make the diseased person psychologically strong and help them to cope up with physical impairments of skin sores and nerve damage.
  • To ascertain that all affected persons are getting the necessary treatment, rehabilitation, and care or not.
  • To estimate the marked decrease or increase in the rate of spreading disease.

Today, on this day, let us all join hands and work together as one. Let us fight Leprosy. Let us awake from our sleep and step into the dawn of a bright morning. Let ‘love’ be the language that we speak in and ‘kindness’ be the language that we showcase because only then can we make the ‘unwanted’ feel ‘wanted’ and cure any disease that may come our way.

“Heal the world, make it a better place;
For you and for me, And the entire human race.
There are people dying if you care enough for the living:
Make it a better place, For you and for me.” – Michael Jackson

Let us all be the change that we want to see in the world.

Let us together, heal this world and make this world a better place to live in.

United we stand, Divided we fall. HAPPY REPUBLIC DAY!

One day, a teacher of class 2 walks into his class and the conversation that followed would surely melt your heart.

Teacher – *with a smile* Class, can you all tell me that how many colors are present on our National Flag?

Class – *shouts* There are three colors on our National Flag. They are Saffron, White, and Blue.

Teacher – *with pride* Correct! You all are absolutely correct.

(but then, from one corner of the class, a student named Akash Thapa jumped up and shouted)

Akash – Sir, there are five colors on our National Flag.

(the full class burst into laughter)

Teacher – My child, how are there five colors on the National Flag?

Akash – Sir, on top there is saffron; in the middle, there is white; below, there is green; and there is a blue chakra in the center.

Teacher – Yes, but that, my child, adds up to four and not five.

(then the innocent child replied)

Akash – With saffron, white, green and blue, there are big blots of red all over the flag. I saw this when they opened the coffin in which my dad was kept.

(there was pin drop silence in the class)

Either I will come back after hoisting the tricolor, or I will come back wrapped in it, but I will be back for sure” – Capt. Vikram Batra, PVC

A truer line can never be said regarding the Indian Army. Over the years, it is because of them that we are safe. Law of dispersion says that when a beam of light passes through a triangular prism, it separates into component colors but little does it know that back in the mid 20th Century, a beam of red light entered the prism of British Raj and separated into three distinct colors with a chakra. Newton must have been proud of this spectroscopy, had he been alive. Today on this auspicious day, Team VAWSUM salutes each and every Braveheart because had they not been there, we won’t have been Here.

We stand here today, all safe and sound and call us a ‘republic’. We boast of having a very good constitution but are we really free? Has the crime rate really decreased? Can we really boast of a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC? Can we really say that we have social, economic and political JUSTICE? Can we really say that we have LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith, and worship? Do we really have EQUALITY of status and of opportunity? Are we really promoting FRATERNITY? If not, then the sacrifice of the Bravehearts is of no use. Then The Preamble is of no use.

On this day, when our constitution came into existence, let us pledge against crime and corruption. Let us strive towards the JUSTICE, LIBERTY, EQUALITY, and FRATERNITY that our PREAMBLE states. Only then can we have a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC.

“Let India be the SONG we SING, Let India be the DREAM we DREAM.”

Jai Hind!

Want an Overall Development of a Student? Try VAWSUM!

When it comes to VAWSUM, the development of a student is of the utmost importance. Be it in any area of the school life, VAWSUM looks into an overall development of the child in every aspect.

If you are a parent, then it is sure that you had tried making the dish that your child loves, with the ingredients that you want (if your child doesn’t want to have the ingredients that you want your child to have) and the child would eat it with joy and happiness. But why does this even happen? What makes the child eat it? Well, the answer is, the child got what he/she wanted.  Now imagine, if one could use this same policy for the development of a student, then how much more developed each student can become. Sounds interesting, isn’t it?

This is exactly why you need VAWSUM. We provide an online platform for students when it comes to studies. Let me elaborate it :

  • The teacher can upload homework over the app and students can do the homework and upload it. Students would love to do this type of homework as shifting paper-based homework to an online platform can make students enjoy the assignment And when students enjoy an assignment, they are more likely to complete it and do a better job. Assigning a digital form of homework means one doesn’t have missing assignments. The online platform can be very interactive as students can read their classmates’ uploaded homework and leave comments. This helps in the overall development of the student.
  • The teacher can upload links, photos, and documents. This creates an atmosphere of a smart class. This is very helpful for auditory and visual learners as this enhances their speed of learning, and thus fostering their development.
  • The attendance module of the App makes sure that the students don’t miss classes unnecessarily, and as we all know, “The First step to Success is Showing Up”. Therefore, this too enhances the student development.
  • Using the app, a teacher can upload pictures of school activities. Now say for an example, John comes first in a 100-meter race and his picture gets uploaded. Paul, who is also a sprinter, sees this and makes it a point to work hard such that his picture is uploaded the next year. This is what exactly happened in a school. Young people love the limelight and when he/she knows that the audience would be the entire school then he/she is bound to work harder towards his own development.
  • One can also track the school bus of his/her child by using this app. This ensures the safety of the child.
  • The teacher can communicate with each parent one on one using the app. This helps when the parent-teacher meeting is hard to come by. It can be because of many reasons(few reasons could be, unavailability of the parent or the teacher a given day). This actually helps when a teacher needs to inform a parent regarding something on the very day of its occurrence. For example, if a math teacher sees that a student is having difficulty with multiplication, then he/she doesn’t have to wait for the next PTM. He/she can inform the parent at that very moment and the parent can easily look into it. This feature thus creates a very interactive atmosphere between a parent and a teacher and this is bound to enhance the overall development of the student.

Now, when the child enjoys his/her academics, gets incentives for co-curricular activities, is assured security and there is a very good communication between the parent and teacher, then there is an assured growth in the performance of the child.

Many people, across ten states in India, have already started using this app and the biggest reason is, VAWSUM assures an overall development of the Student. If you are a too want the same for any student, then VAWSUM is the ideal solution.

Do you know why 24th January is celebrated as National Girl Child Day in India?

The creator of the universe didn’t dare to think beyond the IIMs, hence missed out on the honor of being an IIPM-ian. He must have unknowingly created an unsolvable, uncrackable puzzle for the rest of humanity to solve. As far as the mysteries are concerned, they are mysterious in themselves. They can’t be categorized, thus multiplying the complexity. They can be happy, yet they can cry. They can be sad, yet they might smile. They might feel like bursting out, yet they choose to stay calm. They are just being themselves that they don’t realize that how truly unprecedented they are.  There is no practical or theoretically possible starting point and no end to that. Every new definition challenges the previous one. Yes, we are speaking about the most wonderful creation of God, ‘GIRLS’.

The patriarchal society we live in has conditioned us to view women as the weaker sex. They are often seen as a liability when they should be treated as an asset. Female infanticide is a problem that has plagued our country for decades. Spreading awareness of the importance of having a girl child is the need of the hour. In order to meet this goal, January 24th is celebrated as the National Girl Child Day every year.

The aim of celebrating National Girl Child Day is highlighted in the following points:  (source: UPSC)

1) National Girl Child Day is celebrated to make the Girl get all the opportunities and rights for their betterment.

2) The government of India is used to eliminate the Inequalities used to face by the Girls in the Country.

3) The government has stated that every Girl should get every respect and right in the society of the Country.

4) The government made the Rule increase the sex ratio in India and to change the mind of the people to get every equal right to the Girl Child.

5) The government made the rule to make the people to behave in a right manner with the Girl and to provide the same emphasis to them.

6) To make the people know about the Girl’s Education, Respect, Health, and Nutrition.

7) To get the Equality of the Gender for the people.

8) To provide them equal rights to move around every part of the country by allowing every Girl to move to every part of the Country in India.

There are many rights provided by the Government to the Girls by which they can be able to get every Right for the welfare of the Country. Few of them are: (source: UPSC)

1) The government has blocked the Determination of the Sex when the Women become pregnant.

The Reason behind Reduced Absenteeism

Over the years, one of the irksome issue for school authorities has been an increase in the rate of Absenteeism. Quite often than not, students are absent without a bona fide excuse. Absenteeism has been a topic of concern as it has often been linked to serious problems such as violence, substance abuse, gang involvement and criminal activity such as burglary and vandalism. Left unaddressed, absenteeism can have significant negative effects on students, the school and on society. Absenteeism can lead to depression and also result in poor quality of education as a result of time lost while being away from school. It could also lead to moral degradation that leads to drug abuse, early pregnancies, and unruly behavior. And quite often, A PARENT IS UNKNOWN TO THE FACT THAT HIS/HER WARD IS ABSENT.

In this fast-moving world, where both parents of a student are usually employed, it becomes difficult for the parents to keep a check on the whereabouts of his/her child and this results to an increase in absenteeism. There can be many reasons behind absenteeism of a student but the worst one is “bunking”. “Bunking” has been one of the main cause in more than 60% of cases of absenteeism. It can because of reasons varying from peer pressure to phobic adolescence or maybe from lack of interest to private coaching, there had been many reasons behind the induction of “Bunking” into the long list of the reasons behind being “absent”. Of all the reasons, the one reason that shines the brightest is “lack of engagement of the parent as long as the attendance of their child is concerned”.

But how to fray against “bunking” which results in such rates of absenteeism? The answer to this problems is, VAWSUM. VAWSUM is a parent-teacher engagement app and VAWSUM helps a parent to keep full track of their ward’s attendance. Using VAWSUM, when a teacher takes attendance, the parent of the child gets notified there and then. As a result, there is very little provision for the child, not to be present (without a valid reason), as he/she knows that his/her parents would be notified. This results in an increase in attendance. When a child is present in the school, his/her class involvement increases and this enhances the growth of the child. This method of taking attendance promotes presenteeism as part of the discourse of learners, for each student.

Many schools across India are strengthening their class attendance policies by using VAWSUM. VAWSUM has been the cornerstone of the success for most schools. The attendance module of the app has revolutionized the ways of taking attendance and has indeed helped in the rise in the rate of presenteeism. While many schools have already started using VAWSUM, many have already requested for a demo use. If you too want the same, then contact us at www.vawsum.com
